No. The RFID blocking layer is a woven metallic mesh embedded in the card slot panel during manufacturing. No activation, no sleeve to insert, nothing to wear out. Use the verification card included in your order to test it: hold your contactless card inside the wallet and attempt a tap transaction — it will decline. Open the wallet and the same card taps through. That's it.

I am very pleased with the wearability and durability of my Carbinox Blaze S! As an old iWatch guy, I was skeptical. My Blaze does almost everything the iWatch did and I don't have to worry about the battery dying in the middle of my day, scratching the crystal on my wool sweater, or having my watchband explode off of my wrist because I'm lifting a dumbbell.
